Summer Activities

Life's been a little challenging around here lately. But Abigail manages to keep me going. Here she is riding on the bicycle with Matthew in her new baby seat (it is so neat that she can sit up front and see the world rather than sit in the back and stare at our backs!).

She is so cute! Look at her with that bike helmet! Do you think she is enjoying it?!?

Here she is at the park. She loves the swing...loves it! She looks so happy going high up in the air. I think she likes feeling the breeze in her hair, particularly since she can't usually, due to the giant pink helmet.

And finally, here are a few pictures of her in the hiking gear. We didn't get to actually use it this summer, which is too bad. So we took her for a spin in the front and side yards to see how she liked it. You can judge for yourself.

Parenthood is going well. Its been a busy time in our household. Matthew had surgery on his knee the same week I started teaching. He hasn't been able to help me at all with the baby ever since. This has caused quite a challenge for us on many levels, the worst of which was not being able to get to NJ for my cousin Anthony's funeral. It was so sad and I felt terrible for not being there with my family. But Matthew just wasn't healthy enough yet to walk with her (that would have been difficult with the crutches, I would imagine). And taking her would have been very difficult.

Matthew is healing well and I hope he can start to help me with baby care stuff. Abigail misses tubby time with daddy. On the positive side, I feel like I have been given the opportunity to bond with her even more. She seems to now be moving into the separation anxiety stage and she doesn't seem to want to be away from me. At the same time, I'm not the one who gets huge smiles and panting with excitement when I walk through the door. That reaction is still reserved for daddy! (sigh) What is up with that?!?
