Abigail's 4-month Check-up

Yesterday was Abigail's 4-month check-up with Dr. Brown. She is now 25.5 inches tall and 15 lbs 12 oz light! What a big girl she is becoming. She is in the 90 percentile for both....I can barely remember why we were so worried about her weight 3 months ago! She obviously is doing well on the formula.

We have been noticing lately that Abigail seems a little lopsided - she only sleeps with her head pushed all the way to her left and she rarely turns her head to her right side for any length of time. We also noticed a bump on her left temple and forehead getting bigger. Ok, truth is, I noticed these things a lot more than other people. Everyone told me I was seeing things. Well, apparently, mommy knows best!

Abigail's neck seems a bit tight on the left side so we now need to go to physical therapy for it. She first needs an x-ray of her head and neck to make sure there isn't something else wrong. We need to loosen up that muscle because her head is getting really flat on the back side of her head (on the left), causing the skull to be pushed forward out of her forehead. Poor baby - she has a big bump on her left side!

Another reason we need to take care of this now is that it may be affecting her left eye. You may have noticed in her pictures that the eye doesn't quite look even with her right eye (when you look at her head-on, the wonky eye is the right eye). Doc seems to think that the skull is pushing on the eye socket. Ugh. So, we clearly need to get this taken care of quickly before things get worse.

Everyone seems to feel that all of Abigail's issues stem from when she was in my belly. I so wish I had begged for an ultrasound so I could see exactly how she was wedged in there!

All-in-all, Abigail is doing well. She was the "belle of the ball" at the doctor's office! She was smiling like crazy and giggling the whole time. The nurses and doctors kept coming into the room to see her and saying how cute she was. I guess since there were 2 other screaming babies in rooms to each side of mine, her smiles were a welcome change!

We are going to NJ for a family visit this next Friday, so I'm sure I will have stories to share!

  1. I can post now! It wouldn't work a while back. It's been great to see the pics and get the updates. I hope you have a great and safe trip back east!
