Surgery Update

Well as I sit here I figured I would give a quick update. We got a call this morning from the hospital asking us to come in asap instead of waiting for the scheduled appointment of 1:30. So we drop everything and arrange early childcare (thank you Laurie) and try to get everything ready to roll. We arrived shortly after noon and got checked in. The preliminary stuff was done, and then we waited in a room for her to be taken to pre-op until 2:30. Finally, they came and got her, and I headed down to the atrium waiting area. It's pretty cool for those that havn't seen it, but you can check a patient's status on these large plasma screens they have set up. It's similar to arrivals/departures at the airport. Anyway at around 4:15 I checked Stephanie's status and saw that she was still in pre-op. I was really confused by this and asked at the desk. They said that she was still in pre-op and her surgery was scheduled for 4:30. I asked why and was told that it was most likely because the previous surgery must have gone long. So she is in surgery currently. I find it mildly annoying that we hurried to get here 90 minutes early and her surgery occured 60 minutes later than originally scheduled. Oh well, in the grand scheme it doesn't really matter as long as it is successful. I will update you when I get further word.
